Gall swells the year list

Another trip to Covert Wood yielded a new species for the year in the shape of the galls caused by the larvae of Lampronia fuscatella. 

Look on Birch for the characteristic swellings, usually at a node. There will be a smal hole, and if there’s a larva still inside, there’s often a small clump of frass around the hole.
