Silver Y Autographa gamma (2441, 73.015) is a common migrant which can be seen any month of the year by day and at light traps.
In autumn the breeding numbers from spring migrants is increased by further migration. Reported in Kent throughout the 20th century numbers have increased in the 21st century but vary from year to year. Peaks of greater than 4000 were recorded in 2006 and 2010 and greater than 8000 in 2013. The years with the lowest counts of less than 500 were 2001, 2007 and 2008.
Larval foodplants are low-growing plants from bedstraws, clovers, Common Nettle to crops such as Garden Pea, Cabbage and Runner Bean.
